Donna Marie Zimny was born on February 21, 1943 in Lakin Township, near Foley, MN. She was the fourth child of Stephen and Hildegarde Zimney. She lived in that area with her parents and eight siblings until the family moved to Baudette in the fall of 1952, after which three more siblings were born.
Donna graduated from the Baudette High School in 1961.
