WINDHAM, Maine – Dolores A. Smith, 57, of Windham passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on

March 29,2013 with her sister, Sharon, by her side, after a courageous battle with bladder cancer.

Dolores was born April 29, 1955 in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania to James M. Smith and Dolores (Redding)

Smith. Dolores resided with her parents. In 2008 Dolores moved to Maine to live with her sister where every

night Dolores looked forward to giving the dogs their good night cookie. Dolores was very excited to have her

own room and to be able to choose her own activities. She would color for hours in the quiet of her room, at

times, gazing out the window into a huge back yard. Barbeques on the deck overlooking the garden were also

a huge favorite for Dolores. Dolores will be sadly missed.

Dolores attended the Morrison Center while she lived in Maine. Dolores looked forward to her bus rides to

and from the center. She always greeted her staff with a big smile and endless hugs. Throughout the day at the

center she did many activities and went on several outings. Dolores had such fun that she laughed until it

brought tears to her eyes.

Dolores had a wonderful trip to Disney World during Thanksgiving week of 2010 joining a very caring staff

member and her family on a fun filled vacation.

The highlight of Dolores’s summers was always her vacation week spent at Pine Tree Camp in Rome, Me.

Shortly after Christmas she started to gear up for ‘camp’. She enjoyed the swimming, playing jokes on staff

but her favorite activity was the boat ride across the lake to get ice cream!

Dolores is predeceased by her father, James M. Smith and her mother, Dolores (Redding) Smith of Fountain

Hill, P A. She is survived by her sister Sharon Smith of Windham; sister, Patricia Desh of Bethlehem, P A;

sister, Diane Shively of Orefield, PA; brother, James Smith of Stockertown, PA; and many loved nieces and

nephews.
