Dean Estol Gabbard passed away at his home on February 6, 2023 surrounded by his family after a year long illness.
Dean was born on March 18, 1956 in New Castle, Indiana. A southern girl, Darlene Watkins caught his eye and he never looked back. In 1976 they were married and for the next 47 years they worked as one. Dean worked for many years at Ingalls Shipbuilding. He enjoyed fishing, camping and all things outside. But those things dimmed when compared to his grandchildren whom he adored. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Margaret Gabbard; sister, Della Gabbard.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene Gabbard of Pascagoula, MS; daughter, Rita Conley and her husband Nick of Hurley, MS; siblings, Mary Glass (Bill), Claire Rojas (Jaime), Tonyia Gabbard, Norman Lee Gabbard, Chris Gabbard (Deanna), Tony Gabbard and Kenneth Gabbard; grandchildren Makenzie Conley (Michael Brooks) Makenna Conley and Mallorie Conley; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
