Dakota James Shumock lost the battle of living life on August 25, 2022, at the age of 20 years old. 5 days before he would’ve turned the “Big 21” and reached adulthood as he would’ve put it. Dakota was born on August 30, 2001, and spent his entire life in Pascagoula, MS. He graduated this past May after finally achieving his high school diploma equivalency certificate. He grew up in a loving home with his two siblings, Lindsey and Tyler Shumock. He enjoyed many family vacations, birthday parties, school events and even played the drums in middle school band. He had a special close bond with his two cousins, Kiya and Conner Capps, and many other special friends along the way. He loved history and reading non-fiction books about the weather and politics. He was well versed in many subjects. He also had an awesome sense of humor and always had a good joke or story to tell to make everyone smile. Music was a passion for him and he spent many hours listening to and sharing that passion with others.
No parent should ever have to bury their child and we would like to say that Dakota’s life had meaning and purpose. Our last wish for our child is that anyone who knew him never forget him and go forth every day striving to live life to the fullest. Let him be remembered for the sweet, charming and funny young man who lost his battle. May we all live a better, kinder life every day in honor of Dakota. Rest in peace until we see you again my sweet angel.
