Scarborough – Cecilia Rand Berwick, 79, resident at Maine Veteran’s Home in Scarborough, Maine, passed away on May 16, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born in Farmington, Maine on March 11, 1934 to Marion Young Rand and Cecil Rand. Cecilia graduated from Farmington High School. She then entered into service to our country as a Marine stationed at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina.
In addition to full time mother and frequent public school advocate, Cecilia worked as a home health aide. She last worked as a Foster Grandparent at Bayside Community Center in Portland, Maine. For more than 65 years she was also a devoted member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, primarily in the Cape Elizabeth Ward.
Cecilia was pre-deceased by her beloved infant son, Jodi Laird. She is survived by her former husband and life-long friend, Robert Berwick; her sisters, Clara Lawrence of Hermon, ME and Geraldine Cook of Surry, ME; her children Roberta Elias, of Natick, MA; Rebecca McLellan of Naples, ME, Robert A. Berwick, of Saco, ME; Regena Deck, of Raymond, NH and Randall Berwick, of San Jose, CA. She is also survived by many loved and treasured grand children and great grandchildren.
