CAROL POTUCEK
Carol Potucek passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad, MN at the age of 86.
Carol Lucille Hjelle was born on November 1, 1922 in Karlstad, MN, the daughter of Otto and Marie (Nyflot) Hjelle. She was raised on the family farm in rural Newfolden, MN where she attended country school. On October 28, 1953, she was united in marriage to Wallace Potucek. They made their home in rural Warren, MN where they had a dairy farm. Wallace died on February 2, 1997. After Wallace’s death, she moved to Thief River Falls, MN. In 2008, Carol moved to the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad.
She was a member of the Thief River Falls Eagles, VFW Auxiliary and Zion Lutheran Church.
Carol enjoyed sewing (she made many wedding dresses), playing bingo, fishing and cooking.
Left to mourn her passing are in-laws, Vernon (Shirley) Potucek of Warren, MN, Vera Jackson of Grand Forks, ND, Jack (Ilayne) Potucek of Warren, MN and Mike (Kate) Potucek of Saginaw, MI; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews and special friend, Robert Rendulich Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and two sisters, Eunice Sorenson and Lila Hjelle.
