Carl Joseph Pfaff “Voice of P-W football”
Westphalia
Age 76, passed away on June 24, 2006. Carl was born on May 9, 1930 in Pewamo the son of Rose and Anthony Pfaff who preceded him in death along with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Carl grew up in Pewamo and lived all of his married life in Westphalia. Carl was happily married on June 13, 1953 to his beloved wife Patricia for 53 wonderful years. He was a loving father of 2 daughters and 2 son: Pam (Don) Pung of Pewamo and Sherry (John) Doody of Lansing, Terry (Lynn) Pfaff of Brighton and Brian (Kay) Pfaff of Brighton. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Brandon, Heather, and Matthew Pung, Jessica and Adam Doody, Morgan and Andrew Carl Pfaff and Emily Pfaff. Carl was an employee at General Motors and retired after 38 years of service. Carl was known as the “Voice of the P-W Pirates” for 46 years announcing every home varsity football game in Pewamo-Westphalia Pirate history. He also announced P-W basketball games for several years. Carl served on the St. Mary’s Westphalia Home School Council as well as the School Board for P-W High School. He was member of the original P-W athletics booster club, which raised funds for the lights on the original high school football field. Carl was also a member of the Westphalia Parade Committee for the Bi-centennial and a member of the Westphalia Jaycees. He was an avid University of Michigan fan who did not miss a home football game for 31 years; however, one of his greatest passions was following the participation of his children and grandchildren in athletic events. Carl always looked forward to his yearly summer vacation with his family. We will forever miss the presence and love of Carl in our lives, but we will hold his memory forever in our hearts.
