Bessie Rosewell of Steelville, Missouri (since 1990) formerly of Malvern, Arkansas was born July 19, 1912 in Grant County, Arkansas, daughter of the late Nathan Franklin Rickman and Laura Leona (Wright) Rickman. She died at Gibbs Care Center Thursday, September 8, 2011 in Steelville, Missouri at the age of ninety-nine.

Mrs. Rosewell and her late husband, Olan Edward Rosewell were married August 1, 1931 in Malvern, AR. She was a lifetime member of the Second Baptist Church in Malvern, AR (joining in 1929). She was involved in the Women’s Auxiliary activities as well as Sunday School, serving as class officer and departmental officer. Bessie was noted for her hospitality skills, quilting, needlework, clothing construction (often designing her own patterns), and interior design projects. She was a firm believer in education and that a person is never too old to learn. Evidence of this may be in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have pursued a college education. She was a avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, three half-brothers, three half-sisters, a son Donald Rosewell, a daughter Janice Gahr and one son-in-law Ronald Gahr.

Among those who remain to mourn her passing are one son, James Rosewell and wife Lucy of St. Louis, MO; one daughter, Jacqueline Witt and husband Charles of Steelville, MO; seven grandchildren, Pamela (David) Strubberg, Lori (Fred) Rippeto, Teri (Rocky) Swyers, Joe (Karen) Rosewell, Angela (Carl) Crain, Amy (Mike) Whittaker and Charlotte Witt; thirteen great-grandchildren, Rebecca Strubberg, Alyssa Strubberg, Cadence Rippeto, Courtney Rippeto, Kemble Rippeto, Wittney (Matt) Burch, Chelsi Swyers, Olivia Rosewell, Sophia Rosewell, Kylie Holt, Kayla Crain, Emily Whittaker, Andrew Whittaker; other relatives and a special friend, Annie Mae Bishop of Malvern, AR.
