Bertha Ellen Woods, nee Brooks, of Steelville, MO passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville at the age of 79 years. She was born December 14, 1932 in Davisville, MO to Harry Brooks and Ruby Evans Brooks. On September 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Buddy Woods who preceded her in death in 1993.
She enjoyed sewing, collecting plates and doing “Word Search.”
She is survived by her children Ruby Jeanette Hendryx and husband Tom of Leasburg, MO, Betty Woods and companion Catherine Burns of Defiance, MO, Robert “Bob” Woods of O”Fallon, MO and adopted son Robert Lee Woods, Jr. of St. Ann, MO; three sisters Lucille Manasco of Washington, MO, Maudie Bell of St. Louis, MO and Deloris Gillam and husband Purn of Davisville, MO; eight grandchildren Thomas, Jana, Lea, Robert Lee Jr., Joshua, Jeremy, Nicole and Kacie; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Buddy; two sons Paul James Woods and Buddy Steven Woods; two daughters Susan Woods and Barbara Jane Comfort; one sister Thelma Bridges; grandson Timmy; and one brother-in-law Martin Manasco.
The Family received friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Honored to be casket bearers were Bob Woods, Robert Woods, Jr., Joshua Woods, Tom Hendryx, Jeremy Woods and Thomas Woods.
