Austin Eugene Gillam of Cuba, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 in St. Louis at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 25 days. He was born November 16, 1935 in Courtois, Missouri to Rua Gillam and Ida Brakefield Gillam. On May 3, 1958 in Waterlo0, IL, Austin was united in marriage to Betty Jean Abney and to this union two sons and three daughters were born.
Austin worked as a steel fabricator in St. Louis for several years. He was of the Baptist faith. He always enjoyed working on repairing small engines, feeding the deer around his home and being outdoors.
He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Randy Gillam and wife Georgia of Richmond Heights, MO and Rick Gillam and wife Julie of House Springs; three daughters, Brenda Macreno and husband Vince of St. Charles, MO, Beverly Elston and husband Mark of St. Charles, MO and Linda Yi and companion, Richard of St. Peters, MO; four sisters, Norma Wall and husband Richard of Fenton, MO, Freda Treadway and husband Joey of Union, MO, Verneda Eye of Potosi and Barbara McDonald and husband Terrence of Wildwood, MO; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Calvert and husband John of AZ and Ann Schidler of WA; eleven grandchildren, JR, Michelle, Lindsey, Erin, Jessie, Tyler, Jonathan, Austin, Devin, Shane and Colton; six great-grandchildren, Destini, Dillon, Briana, Henry, Braden and Alexis; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Jean Abney; three brothers, Arvil Gillam and wife Delores, Audie Gillam and Chester Gillam; four sisters, Buleah Edward and husband Sam, Eulah Evans and husband Franklin, Geraldine Johnson and husband John and Leana Lisitano and husband Tom; brothers-in-law, William Eugene Abney and Ronnie Eye; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Masters.
