Audrey Carlson, 89, of Argyle, MN, passed away on Thursday evening, August 27, 2009 at North Valley Health Center in Warren, MN.

Audrey Carolyn Fjeld was born on September 13, 1919 in Bigwoods Township, Marshall County, MN (rural Oslo, MN), the daughter of Martin and Mable (Swanson) Fjeld. She was raised and graduated from high school in Stephen, MN. Audrey graduated from St. Olaf College with majors in English, Latin and Library Science. On September 7, 1941, she married Reuben Carlson. They made their home in Stephen before moving to Argyle. Audrey was a teacher for Stephen High School (1 year) and Argyle High School (3 years) before becoming a Vice President and Director of the Argyle State Bank. They wintered in South Padre Island, TX. Following Reuben’s death, Audrey moved to Parkwood Place in Grand Forks, ND and from there to Scottsdale, AZ

She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Argyle; past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and past president of the Argyle American Legion Auxiliary.

Left to mourn her passing are two children, Peter A. (Karen) Carlson of Mentor, MN and Deborah L. (Philip) Chen of Maplewood, NJ; five grandchildren, Tony Carlson, Rob Carlson, Kristin Jerome, Martin Chen and Emily Bendle and nine great-grandchildren, Alex, Zach and Amanda Carlson; Abbey, Trent and Tea Jerome; Payton and Annika Carlson and Maura Audrey Bendle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Reuben and brother, Marvin Fjeld.
