Aubrey “Hoopie” Waltz, 75, passed away after a brief illness on the morning of September 11th 2010 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. Born in Newcastle on January 2nd 1935, he was the son of Sewall and Irene (Robinson) Waltz. Hoopie grew up in Newcastle and attended Lincoln Academy. On January 28th 1956, he married Carolyn “Tammy” Reay and they would be married for nearly 42 years until her death in 1997. Hoopie worked for Nissen Baking Company for several years, delivering to many familiar faces and businesses throughout the area. Upon his retirement from Nissen in 1986, he went to work for Damariscotta Bank and Trust. He continued to work at DB&T on a daily basis and will be sadly missed by the staff at all of their branch offices. He loved to socialize and looked for any excuse to do so.
