Ardis was born August 3, 1920 in rural Alvarado to Ralph and Clara (Larson) Hanson. She spent her earlier years in the Alvarado area. On January 17, 1939 she married Andrew Ferencik in East Grand Forks. They moved to Tabor for three years were they farmed and then moved to East Grand Forks for 15 years and in 1958 moved to Alvarado. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Farmers Elevator in Alvarado for many years.
