Archie was born on July 31, 1945. He was the son of Vernon Brewer and Doris Higgins of Boothbay Harbor.
Archie attended Boothbay Region High School, but graduated from Waldoboro High School, after marrying Constance Elaine Shuman of Waldoboro. They married on July 10, 1965, and just celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary.
Archie served in the Army during the Vietnam War as a line cook. After working at Maine Yankee for a few years he started working at Bath Iron Works for a tenure of 35 years as a shipfitter.
