Ann Jevizian peacefully passed away in her home on December 19, 2018, with her family present. Born in Detroit on January 26, 1927, she was the daughter of Sahag and Mary (nee Jundigian) Jevizian. Growing up in the warm Armenian community of Delray, Ann was active in school sports. Graduating from Southwestern High School, she had been on the swimming team, the basketball team and later became an excellent tennis player. After WWII began in 1941, her brother, Dr. Edward Jevizian, joined the US Army Air Corps as a flyer. Ann’s interest in airplanes blossomed. She took flying lessons and became a Cadet in the local Civil Air Patrol unit, an official volunteer organization of the US Air Force. Her patriotism was unmatched as she helped the CAP in their Homefront duties. In 1946, she applied for a job at the National Bank of Detroit. Working hard, she became a Teller. Due to her expertise and loyalty, Ann became a Branch Manager, serving in several branches. As the years passed, NBD became Chase Bank and Ann was promoted to the position of Assistant Vice-President of the bank. Ann became a prominent member of the Southwest Businessmen’s Association. To help support her community, she also joined the local Lion’s Club. Her talents were unlimited. Even while working in the bank, she purchased and operated an Ira Wilson Ice Cream & Dairy store. Ann proved her entrepreneurial skills in two different fields of business at the same time. Faithful to her heritage, Ann was a long-time member of St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church. Active in the Ladies’ Guild, Ann helped for many weeks during the year to prepare for the church’s Annual Bazaars. Because of her leadership abilities, she was elected Chairwoman of the St. Sarkis Board of Trustees.
