Obituary for Alice Lorene (Coffman) Davis

Alice “Lorene” Davis, nee Coffman, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Owensville, MO at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 14 days. Lorene was born November 20, 1934 in Hinch, Missouri to James E. Coffman and Mabel Jane Vance Coffman. On February 6, 1954 in Corinth, MS, she was united in marriage to Billy Franklin Davis and to this union eight children were born.


 She enjoyed along with her husband for many years researching genealogy and they published two volumes of “Echoes From the Past.” A few years ago, she volunteered at the Steelville Star writing a historical column for the paper.  Lorene always enjoyed reading, cross-word puzzles and word searches. She also enjoyed reading poetry, listening to classical and ragtime music and watching game shows. Most of all she loved her family and being with them.


She will be sadly missed by her children, James “Jim” Davis and wife Chantal, John Davis and wife Christy, Caroline Booker, Billie Garrison and husband David, Kathi Aston and husband Ken and Mary Ransom and husband Mike all of Steelville, MO and Janet Thompson and husband Bob of Viburnum, MO; one brother, Bill Coffman and wife Gloria of Steelville, MO;  two sisters, Betty Ives Perrigue of Steelville, MO and Esther Jeffries Ensley of Harrisonville, MO; sister in-law, Loretta Coffman of Jefferson City, MO; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Davis; one daughter, Susan Davis; brothers, James E. Coffman, Paul Coffman and Franklin Coffman; and one sister, Waneta Rennekamp and husband Harry.


The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.


Honored to be casket bearers were George Bratcher, Walker Richards, Danny Nichols, Matt Garrison, Eric Diaz, Seth McNew and Kole Afton and honorary,  Andy Davis, Jon Davis and Taylor Davis.
