Alice Alma Wood, 82, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at her home in the Berryman community. She was born, May 22, 1927 in Cherry Valley, Missouri to Winford and Carrie Leota (Stricker) Hardin. Alice was united in marriage to Hyle Ray Wood on September 3, 1946 in Potosi, Missouri and to this union three children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband Hyle on September 13, 2004.
Alice will be sadly missed by her two sons, Winford Wood and wife Marlaine of Wentzville, MO and Allan Wood and wife Victoria of Marthasville, MO; one daughter, Rosella Helm and husband Clyde of Steelville, MO; seven grandchildren, Sarah Wood, Sam Wood, Jessica Thornhill and husband Brandon, Kathryn Wood, Daniel Wood, Cassie Middleton and husband Lynn, and Paul Helm; four great-grandchildren, Austin and Andrew Thornhill and Tatum Washburn and Colton Middletown; brother-in-law, Cliston Porter of Naylor, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Wood of Viburnum, MO, Jennie Pauline Smith and Rosella Skaggs of Steelville, MO; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hyle; two brothers, William Marvin Hardin and Dwight Hardin and wife Nellie; two sisters, Gertrude Brown and husband Art and Mabel Porter; brother-in-laws, Bud Wood and wife Virginia, Walter Wood, Fred Wood, Emmett Smith and Claude Skaggs.
Alice enjoyed reading, embroidery, feeding the birds and being a loyal Cardinal baseball fan. She loved her little cat, KatieKat, but most of all she loved being around her family.
