Alfred Pokrzywinski, 94, of Oslo, MN, died on Monday, January 11, 2016, in Villa St. Vincent, Crookston, MN.

Alfred Edward was born on May 7, 1921, in Grafton, ND, to Julius and Martha (Schuster) Pokrzywinski. He spent his early childhood on a farm north of Warsaw, ND, before moving to Oslo, MN while in grade school. On November 14, 1944, Alfred was united in marriage to Lucille St. Germain, in Argyle, MN.

The young couple made their home on a farm north of Oslo: a farm Alfred would work until he retired in 1983. Alfred was very active in his church, and was involved for many years with St. Joseph Red River Mission Church (until it closed) and St. Joseph’s in Oslo. He was awarded the Bishop’s Medal of Appreciation for his many years of faithful service to the Diocese of Crookston. In addition to farming, Alfred was also an avid woodworker and made furniture for many family members, friends, and his church. In 2011, Alfred and Lucille moved into Villa St. Vincent, Crookston.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lucille; children, Lana (Alan) Ebertowski of Hillsboro, ND, Mary (John) Morberg of Moorhead, Margo (Vince) Rolczynski of Fargo, ND, and Pam (Mike) Pawloski of Coon Rapids, MN; eleven granchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lourine Nagel of Pueblo, CO, Arlene Johnson of Chillicothe, IL, and Aime (Germaine) Pokrzywinski of Manvel, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several brothers-and-sisters-in-law.
