Oakley D. Reed, 93, of Franklin, passed away on November 28, 2016, at Franklin Meadows. He was born in Liberty, Ky. (Casey County), on September 23, 1923, to his parents, James S. and Rosa (Scott) Reed. Oakley married the late, Dolly MacFarland, on November 29, 1946.
He proudly served his country, in the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was stationed in the Pacific Theatre, during WWII. Oakley later retired from Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed antiques, going to auctions, and collecting.
Oakley is survived by his wife, Helen (Pettyjohn) Collins Reed of Franklin, his three children, Doris (Les) Fleener of Hustonville, Kentucky, Gary (Barbara) Reed of Whiteland, and Dan Reed of Franklin, two brothers, Foster (Velma) Reed of Indianapolis, and Harold (Bobbi) Reed of Cincinnati, Ohio, five grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dolly MacFarland, three brothers, Otis, Glenn, and William Reed, and five sisters, Lola Conaster, Ova Jones, Velma Harris, Sophia Gilmour, and Lorraine Deskins.
