Nova L. Manczak (Coupie) passed away peacefully Thursday July 5, 2018 at age 91. Our mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend was born Feb. 27, 1927 to Guy Jerome Coupie and Ilet Henrietta LeSage in Saganing, MI. She graduated from Standish High School before moving to Bay City to rejoin her family. She married Clemence F. Olszowy from Beaver in 1948 settling in Bay City. They moved to Auburn after Clem built the 1st of 3 homes for the growing family of 6 sons and 3 daughters: Ronald J. of San Antonio, TX, Kenneth (Lorraine) of Fresno, CA, Sylvia Olszowy of Willis, TX, Kevin of Fort Wayne, IN, Calvin, Janine and Carol (Randy) Goodwin all of Bay City, Raymon Olszowy and Linda (Craig) Miles of Midland. After 37 years marriage, Clemence passed away in 1985, she married Leonard Manczak in 1988 and enjoyed her 2nd family as well as lots of Detroit Tiger games for 27 years. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish and member of Daughters of Isabella Bishop Gallagher Circle #605. Besides her family activities, she enjoyed polka and ball room dancing, bowling and golfing, traveling all over US, needle work, gardening and Smear card games during the “Coupie Girls” camping trips. In her younger years she worked at the Electric Autolite and then after her children were older, the Bay City Public school system.
She is survived by her sister, Veronica (Ronni) Grusecki and sister in Law, Pat Coupie of Bay City. Step children, Larry (Jane) Manczak of Bay City and Johanna (Joie) and Joseph Welter of Sherman, CT. She also has six grandchildren, John (Heather) Miles of Bad Axe, Michelle L. (Adam) Dudycha of PawPaw, Lisa Miles of Sanford, Kristen M. Miles of Madison Heights, Ceara and RaeAnn Goodwin of Bay City. Step-children, Neal (Melissa) Manczak of Monroe, Nathan (Regina) of Bryon Center, Naryn (Adam) Jankowiak of Bay City, Christopher (Lisa) Welter of CT, Karisse Welter of CT. She enjoyed time with four great grandchildren, Hayden and Logan Miles, Porter and Seely Dudycha; step-great grandchildren Emery, Evan and Ellie Manczak, Layla, Luke Manczak, Brayden & Landon Welter and Lily Welter of CT, Cole & Cassidy Jankowiak of Bay City. Special friends, Pushpam (Winston) Williams of Virginia.
She was predeceased by Clemence F. Olszowy and Leonard L Manczak and son, Edward Olszowy of Willis TX. Siblings; Una (Benny) Krupa, brother in law, Walter Grusecki, Iva (Ray) Van Den Boom, Marylis (Don) Przepiora, Patsy (Marty) Johnstone, John Coupie and June (Earl) Hewitt.
