Obituary of Norman Stanley Shafer
SHAFER, Norman “Butch” Stanley of Saginaw, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 24, 2013. Norman was born on November 18, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Harley and Thelma (Hudson) Shafer. He married Sandra Jewell on September 27, 1958; she preceded him in death in 1997. Butch graduated from Arthur Hill High School. Later, he was self-employed at Colonial Small Engine from 1977-1998 and before that, at Saginaw Central Oil. He enjoyed having breakfast every morning with the Bringer’s Inn breakfast club, as well as his close friendships at the cottage at Secord Lake. Butch leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Bonnie (Guy) Maslowski, Linda (Thomas) LeBlanc, and Penny (Thomas Whitney) Hartman; seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Jessica) Maslowski, Nicholas Maslowski, Andrew LeBlanc, Lucas LeBlanc, Erin Hartman, Jessica LeBlanc, and Jenna Hartman; two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Carter Maslowski; special friend, Beverly Blue; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Sherry (Dan) Brandi, Donald (Linda) Jewell, and Richard (Lisa Escareno) Jewell; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Sandra; his brother and wife, Gerald (Patricia Shafer); and father- and mother-in-law, Clyde (Marion) Jewell.
