Norman R. Carty, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family at Alexandria Manor, Bethlehem. He was the loving husband of the late Irene (Weirback) Carty, who died in 2005. Born in Nazareth, Norman was a son of the late Kryl and Sadie (Cressman) Carty. He served in the US Army during WWII, and later worked for Bethlehem Steel Corp in the maintenance department for the blast furnaces. He was a member of United Steelworkers Local 2599, and of Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church. Norman volunteered for many years at Gracedale Nursing Home, and enjoyed taking his therapy dogs to visit the residents. Normans family wishes to thank all of the staff at Alexandria Manor and Arcadia Hospice for their wonderful care and support. Survivors: daughters Linda Tocket and her husband John of Bethlehem Township, Patricia Chmela and her husband Christopher of Bethlehem; grandchildren Christopher and Anthony Tiscio, Rebecca Bennett and her husband Christopher; 4 great-granddaughters. Norman was predeceased by his brothers Kryl, Earl and Donald Carty.
