Norma Ruth Garringer, 91, a lifelong resident of Anderson, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2020.

She was born on August 7, 1928 to Ira and Elda (Free) Remley in Anderson, IN. She lived a full and active life, including extensive travel throughout the US, Israel, Egypt, Africa and Russia. Ruth was an active and devoted Christian throughout her life and generously supported the work of various global missions. She also enjoyed family gatherings, home decorating, reading, gardening and tennis. Ruth earned an RN degree from IUPUI at the age of 44 and proudly served the ICU patients at Community Hospital for over 20 years. Ruth was married 45 years to WWII veteran, Rex Garringer, with whom she had four children. The unions of her children, Brenda (Stan) Loutner of Columbus, Rex (Rhonda) Garringer of Anderson, Rebecca (Frank) Johnson of Albuquerque and Ron (Monica) Garringer of Missouri resulted in 15 grandchildren, Kelly, Chellee, Sara, Benjamin, David, Ryan, Jama, Jalon, Jodi, Jessica, Josh, Jason, Christen and Aaron. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her beloved pet, Jose.
