Norma M. Wood, 90, of Galesburg, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center, Galesburg. Norma was born May 16, 1923 in Galesburg, the daughter of Edgar and Amy (Herzog) Kipling. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1941.
On November 10, 1942 she married Donald E. Wood at the First Christian Church in Galesburg. He preceded her in death in January 2001. Norma is survived by three sons, James (Paula) of Sherrard, John of Galesburg, and Gary (Robin) of Salisbury, NC; and two sisters, Marilyn (Joe) Hoyt of Colchester, and JoAnne (Joe) Smith of Royal Gorge, CO. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Roberta Wood of Rock Island. She was preceded in death by one son, Richard on January 27, 1999. Norma worked at the Grand Roller Rink for about 10 years, she then worked in the produce department at Hi-Lo Grocery for about 20 years, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed square dancing, and sewing, especially quilting.
