Norma Jean Whitacre, 77, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
She was born Oct. 3, 1937, in Jacksonville, the daughter of George Stewart and Veda I. Shay Whitacre.
She is survived by her brother, John E. Whitacre, and sister, Katherine Ann (husband, Lee) Stauffer, both of Jacksonville; five nephews and nieces, Ron Whitacre, Norma Jean (husband, Dave) Irlam, Vickie (husband, Dave) Baier, Linda K. Whitacre and John (wife, Heather) Whitacre; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Maxine Whitacre.
Ms. Whitacre was a 1955 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She had been a meat wrapper for 47 years at A & P, Krogers, County Fair and County Market, all in Jacksonville, retiring in 2002. She was a member of Central Christian Church, and the Feisty Fems of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling and playing bunco.
