Norma Jean Harmon, age 72, of Warsaw (formerly of Wheatfield) passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Aperion Care of DeMotte.

Norma Jean was born in East Chicago, IN on September 22, 1944 the daughter of Samual and Mable (Durflinger) DeArmond. She was a graduate of Hammond Technical High School, Class of 1962. Norma married the love of her life, George “Ted” Harmon Jr. on October 12, 1963. He preceded her in death on their anniversary in 2006. Norma had worked at Nipsco in Hammond, as well as H&R Block in DeMotte. She moved to Warsaw and was employed with Worth Financial for the last 15 years. She volunteered locally for the Arc of Indiana and started a camp for the Handicap in Bruce Lake, IN. She enjoyed spending the weekends on the lake fishing with family & friends. Norma was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Norma is survived by her daughter: Susan (Randy) Van Kley of Wheatfield, IN; grandchildren: Amber Van Kley of Chicago, IL; Amy Van Kley of Valparaiso, IN; Ashley (Joshua) Westphal of DeMotte, IN; great grandchildren: Tyle, Harmony, Austin, Kayla, and Leo; sibling: Jim DeArmond and sister-in-law: Peggy Jo (John) Roth. Norma was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; daughter: Kelly Ann Harmon; brother: Don DeArmond; and sister: Jeanette Lehman.

The family of Norma wishes to extend our sincere Thanks to: Dr. R. Kansal and staff, Aperion Care of DeMotte, Clinical Home Health Care of DeMotte, Pastor Jack and Bev Worth, her nieces: Betty (Bob) Schultz and Linda Ray, cherished friends Don and Joanie McAfee, caretaker: Anna Westphal, along with all her friends and family who have cared for and supported Norma this past year.
