Norma Ellen Hendon, age 87, of DeMotte passed away April 5, 2021 surrounded by loved ones.
She was born May 17, 1933 in Hoopeston, Illinois, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Young) Deck. Norma graduated from Hammond High School. She married John Hendon on June 1, 1965 in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
He preceded her in death on November 16, 2008. She previously worked as a cook in numerous restaurants, factory assembly and as a homemaker. She was a member of the former DeMotte Church of the Nazarene, now known as Risen Community Church of DeMotte. She loved singing and being in the church choir. She also enjoyed baking and gardening. She especially enjoyed making candy around the holidays.
Norma is survived by her loving children: Kent Hendon of Remington, IN; John (Jennifer) Hendon of DeMotte, IN; Doug Hendon of DeMotte, IN; 4 grandchildren: Isra (Ashley) Hendon, Colton Hendon, Luke Hendon, and April Hendon; and 2 great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Nia Hendon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and all of her siblings.
