Noemi Russo was greeted into the loving arms of Jesus as she died peacefully at her Alameda home on March 22, 2012.  The daughter of Angel Enrique and Braulia Escobar Masferrer, Noemi was born in Vina del Mar, Chile on October 19, 1918.

Noemi was an exceptional seamstress and prior to living in the U.S. she had a shop in Chile for 10 years, where she made and sold “exclusive” dresses called “Modas Mimi”.  

Noemi was a kind and loving person and dedicated to helping others.  The loving wife to Melvin F. Russo for 38 years; Noemi and Melvin were the founding members of Alameda Meals on Wheels and also volunteered with the Red Cross for fifteen years.  As a volunteer Noemi, again put her seam-stressing to work making sleepers for the soldiers.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Melvin F. Russo in 2010; sister, Margarita Masferrer de D’Alescon and brothers, Leonardo, Francisco, Rodolfo and Abelardo  Masferrer;  survived by her loving sisters, Cecilia V. Masferrer  Vda  de Lopez and Angelica G. Masferrer  Escobar.
