Nick Anthony Chavez, 63 of Silver City passed away Friday, October 23, 2020 in Las Cruces. Nick was born June 6, 1957 in Maywood, California to Joe and Isabel Chavez. He had served his country honorably in the United States Army. Nick met his wife, Yvonne in 1975. They got married on April 3rd, 1977, and started a beautiful family. Nick owned and operated Chavez Construction in Silver City for many years. He employed many and all will say he was one hell of a boss. He enjoyed the outdoors. His passion was hunting and fishing. If Nick wasn’t hunting or fishing, he was restoring his oldies. His greatest passion was spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. Nick never hesitated to lend a helping hand, whether it be family, friends, or the community. He was a lifelong member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Nick will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Nick was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by the love of his life – his wife Yvonne; two sons, Nick Chavez Jr & Debbie of Silver City, Michael Chavez & Brittany of Las Cruces; his daughter, Veronica Adcock & Jarrod of Arlington, TX.; his grandchildren, Nick III, Noah, Mckenna, Diego, Jude, Emersyn, Penelope, Aric, Sophia, and Juliana. Nick is also survived by his mother, Isabel Chavez; One brother, John Chavez & Marisa of Long Beach, CA; five sisters, Eva Reyes & Ernesto of Silver City, NM, Olga Fernandez & Rick of Silver City, NM, Isabel Chavez of Norwalk, CA, Dolores Chavez of Arcadia, CA and Ana Mcpherson & Rene of Las Cruces, NM. Lastly, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, God children, and cousins.
Nick was preceded in death by his father Joe M. Chavez and a brother, Joe R. Chavez.
