Nicholas T. Olejniuk, age 91, of Town of Lee, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2012, with his loving family at his side.
He was born April 12, 1921, in Brooklyn, a son of George H. and Rosalia Cizek Olejniuk, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Nicholas was united in marriage to Lillian McDonald on May 16, 1942, in Verona; she died April 16, 2005. He was a truck driver and worked for many trucking firms and retired from Matlock Trucking in Marcy. He was member of Zion Episcopal Church and the Lee Legion.
Nicholas was an avid card player, fisherman and NASCAR fan. Along with being a truck driver, he also enjoyed participating in truck rodeos across the country and at one time was ranked No. 1 in New York State.
Nicholas is survived by a daughter, Marlene (Marty) Urtz of Lee Center; three sons and two daughters in law, Dennis and Mona Olejniuk of Lee Center, Ron and Marilyn Olejniuk of Lee Center, and Chip Olejniuk of Lee Center; grandchildren, Christine Rasha, Robert (Bob) Urtz, Debi Jeffries, Meriwether Taylor and Sean Callahan, 5 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Olejniuk and a brother, Joseph Olejniuk.
