Nicholas Kloka, our loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 16, 2020, in Bay City, Michigan, at the age of 70. He had endured a long, hard-fought battle with several chronic illnesses over the past several years.

Nick was a Vietnam Veteran, serving for 6 years in the United States Navy. He married Patty Ramsey on September 25, 1982 in Pontiac, Michigan. He was an amazing family man, doting husband and attentive father to his two daughters, his “baby girls.” With the support of his wife, Nick was able to realize his true passion in life, and obtained a Bachelor’s and then a Master’s degree in Education to pursue his second career as a teacher.

Nick taught for many years at Heritage High School in Saginaw Township, Michigan, where he started a debate team, as well as teaching poetry, creative writing and English. After retiring from Heritage, he taught several more years at Bay City All Saints in Bay City, Michigan, where he began a debate team there as well. He was a determinedly positive, encouraging, and inspiring man to so many in his life. Nick was always looking to learn new things, have a great debate about something, and would take all the time he thought necessary to help someone improve themselves or just get through a rough spot in their life. He was truly one of a kind, able to inspire and motivate others to succeed by not only his supportive, encouraging words but by his actions as well.

In addition to his family and scholarly roles, Nick also pursued his passions of golfing and searching for Bigfoot. He was able to join the Hole In One Club in July of 2018, at Greenbush Golf Course near his home in Oscoda. Nick loved the outdoors, he spent much time with his family hiking, fishing, and kayaking in Northern Michigan. So many who knew him also enjoyed his stories about his continuous search for the elusive Bigfoot.

Nick is survived by his wife, Patty, daughters Emily Kloka, Rachel (Brandon) Inskeep, and grandchildren Leeah Dahn and Emiliano Eguia.

At the request of Nick cremation has taken place.
