Nicholas Santoro, age 83, of West Haven passed away at home with his family at his side on December 9, 2011. Devoted husband for 58 years of Barbara Howe Santoro. Loving father of Barry (Dina) Santoro, Nicholas (Lisa) Santoro all of PA and Linda (Thomas) Santoro-Eames of FL. Cherished grandfather of Alyssa, Ashley and Dena Santoro, Morgan and Cameron Eames, and proud great grandpa of Dominic Barry Cirigliano. Nick was a graduate of Hillhouse High School Class of 1946; he then joined the US Navy during WWII. He worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 39 years. He received several awards and honors during his tenure at Sikorsky. He loved to coach baseball in both Little League and Babe Ruth levels. Those were by far some of his proudest moments. He was able to teach young players about the game, the value of teamwork and pride in their individual skill. In 1993 he was given the Coach of the year award, which he treasured. Nick was a long time member of the WH Italian American Civic Assoc.; he served on the Board of Directors and the Bar Committee Board for many years. He made a great many friends during those years and enjoyed the company and comradeship of all.
