Nettie Belle Crain, 76, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehab.
She was born Oct. 21, 1941, on the family farm in rural Manchester, the daughter of James Henry and Evelyn Daniels Stice. She married Wendell E. “Jake” Crain Sr. on Oct. 22, 1959, in Indianapolis, IN, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2004.
She is survived by one son and two daughters, Wendell E. “Gene” (Sarah) Crain Jr. of Burns, TN, Georgia (Clay) Oliver of Blandinsville, and Barbara Crain of Jacksonville; thirteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Danny L. (Marla) Stice of Manchester. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Mary Ann Baker; two brothers, James Stice and Jerry Stice, and one brother, Earl Stice, in infancy.
Mrs. Crain was a maintenance mechanic for over 20 years at Mobil Chemical in Jacksonville. At that time, she was the only female mechanic at the plant. She loved gardening, listening to music and singing, taking drives and camping. Nettie especially loved time spent with her family.
