Nels Gottfred Wiberg, 92, of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away on August 24, 2014 at Hamilton Grove. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 2, 1921 to Esther (Ostling) & Gottfried Wiberg.
Nels G. Wiberg graduated from Fenger High School in Chicago and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). He proudly served his country in World War II from 1942 to 1945 in the US Army Air Force as an Aerial Engineer. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Nels was extremely proud of his service to his country and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Nels was married to Faith E. (Yeager) Wiberg on December 23, 1971; they celebrated their 43nd anniversary in 2013.
Nels was employed at Republic Steel and retired from Allis Chalmers in 1986. He was very active in the American Legion and enjoyed frequent visits to Florida.
Nels G. Wiberg was preceded in death by his parents Esther & Gottfried Wiberg, his Uncle John Ostling; and his sisters Ethel (Wiberg) Soderstrom & Corinne (Wiberg) Johnson.
He is survived by wife, Faith E. Wiberg of New Carlisle, Indiana; sister Elsie Eberz of Bradenton, Florida, daughters Victoria Parmley of New Carlisle, Indiana, Donna Benson, & Barbara Rabideau; Grandchildren Ryan Schell of Naples, Florida, Victoria Schell of New Carlisle, Indiana, & Michael Shayne Snyder, Jr. of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Great Grandchildren Lola Mae Schell, Noble Schell, Bentley D. Snyder, & Harlow Snyder; and Stepsons David Villarreal & Raul Villarreal; Stepdaughters Cynthia (Villarreal) Greenwood, Linda Villareal; & Lori (Villarreal) Davis and their children and grandchildren.
