Nellie M. Bowers, 97, of Freeport, died Monday, November 21, 2005, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mt. Carroll. Born January 11, 1908, in Freeport, she was the daughter of Nelson and Ida (Bardell) Geiger. She married Delbert Bowers on June 4, 1928, and he died in 1965. She worked at Micro Switch until her retirement. Nellie was a lifetime member of Ladies of the Moose. She enjoyed bowling and playing golf and her dog Sheena.
Surviving is her son, James (Marjorie) Bowers of Freeport; 2 grandchildren, Michael J. (Susan) Bowers of Rockford and Jeffrey L. (Lezlie) Bowers of Waterloo, Iowa; 2 great-grandchildren, Lucas M. (Shannon) Bowers of Oswego and Megan E. Bowers of Dubuque, Iowa; 1 niece, Maxine Christen of Freeport; 1 sister-in-law, Edith Dorsey of Freeport; grand nieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son; 2 sisters; 1 brother.
