Nellie Jane McConnell Sorah, 68, of 76 Martin Park Street, Axton, VA died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC. She was born on February 15, 1943 in Kimball, West Virginia to the late Robert I. McConnell and Gwendolyn Cartwright McConnell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Wes†H. Sorah, Jr.; a sister, Ina McConnell and three grandchildren. Mrs. Sorah was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church and was very active in the church and Ladies Fellowship. She worked for American of Martinsville for 28 years in the sewing department. Surviving are her daughter, Margaret Callahan of King, NC; sons, Elmer H. Sorah, III of Bassett, VA and Robert “Boss†Sorah of the home; a brother, Robert McConnell of Princeton, West Virginia and two grandchildren, Anthony “T.J.†Vyner, Jr. and Ashley D. Sorah.
