Nellie M. Howard, 82, of Spencer, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009, at the Bloomington Hospital. Born, November 20, 1926, in Richmond, KY; she was the daughter of Ollie and Eva (Taylor) Howard. Nellie was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone/AT&T for 37 years. She retired in 1983.
She was a good Christian woman and a member of the Hillside Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and gardening, especially her flowers. She also enjoyed family and church gatherings. Nellie was soft spoken and was known for her kindness. Mostly, she loved and cherished her family, and was loved and cherished by her family.
She will be missed. Survivors include one brother, Charles F. Howard of Spencer and his close friend Ruth Beach of Gosport, three nieces, Evelyn Abrams of Berea, KY; Wanda (Crum) Nethery and her husband Gerald, Rebecca Howard, one nephew, Jeffery Howard all of Bloomington, 10 great nieces and nephews, Gail Abrams, Bobby Abrams Jr., Laura Abrams, Mark Nethery, Matt Nethery, Georgia Johnson, Douglas Esakson Ryan Howard, Amanda Howard, and Elizabeth Moore, several great-great nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Overton Howard, three sisters, Edith Hensley, Opal Crum and Edna Howard.
