Mrs. Nell Williams Blackwell, 85, formerly of Newnan, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at her home at Baptist Manor in Palmetto. She was born November 28, 1929 in Walton County, FL to the late Leland Williams & Gladys Hart Williams.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Fred R. Blackwell and her brother, Glover Williams.
Nell worked her way through school at Mississippi College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree and met her future husband. She later received her Master’s Degree in Counseling at the University of West Georgia. She worked as an Educator in the Fulton County Schools for many years where she taught at Lakeshore High School and College Park High School. She also served as a school counselor for several years before her retirement.

She and her husband, Fred, were co-trustees of the Edgar B. Hollis Testamentary Trust where they were responsible for the advancement of many charities and organizations in Newnan and Coweta County. Under their direction, over $500,000 has been given to numerous organizations in the community.

Survivors include nephew, David (Susan) Williams; cousin, T.C. (Iva) Gray and T.C.’s two sons, Anthony (Kimmie) Gray & Alan (Georgianna) Gray.
