Nelia was born September 16, 1935 in General Trevino, Mexico a daughter of Francisco and Eufemia (Cantu) Saenz. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 2001 and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Nelia was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Alicia Smith; and a brother, Armando Saenz. She is survived by 3 children, Hector Miranda of Mexico City, Mexico, Martha (David) Kerns of Kalamazoo, and Eduardo (Ludy) Miranda of Monterrey, Mexico; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Paul Smith of Bonaire, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
