Naymon Elmer Watson Sr., 83, passed away Monday June 23, 2014 in Greenwood. He was a resident of Greenwood. Elmer was born June 9, 1931 in Monticello, Kentucky to James G. and Sarah A. (Simpson) Watson. He married Gladys Bertram on March 28, 1953 in Georgia; they were married for 61 years.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. Elmer was a chemical operator a Eli Lilly for 25 years, where he had the nickname ” Mr. Vanco”. He was also a pastor since 1963, pastoring at several area churches. He enjoyed fishing, gospel music, bluegrass gospel and helping others at local nursing homes and prison ministry. The Wounded Warrior project was important to him also.

Survivors include, his wife, Gladys ( Bertram) Watson of Greenwood, five children, Jackie (Kenny) Vetter of Georgetown, Naymon E.(Penny) Watson Jr. of Kentucky, Melanie (Noble) Calvert of Mooresville, Beth Watson of Greenwood and Kay Scott of Clarksville, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a great-great- grandson and special nieces and nephews. He was very much loved by his Bertram family also.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 13 brothers and sisters and a great-grand daughter, Mique A. Lynn
