Our friend Natalie passed peacefully on April 5, 2018, joining her family and loved ones who have gone before.
Natalie was born into a musical family in the Boston area in1930, daughter and granddaughter of Italian and French immigrants, and her early life revolved around her extended family there in Roslindale, MA. At a young age Natalie began violin studies and later attended Berklee School of Music. She played at every opportunity in various orchestras on the East coast including the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, Boston Conservatory Orchestra, New England Philharmonic, and others.
Natalie continued her studies in Daytona Beach, FL, where she also played nightly in the Princess Issena Trio. This trio brought her to Colorado Springs in 1956 when they were hired to perform at the newly revamped Cliff House of Manitou Springs. Soon after arriving Natalie began performing with the Colorado Springs Symphony.
Natalie maintained a private studio at home, and continued performing professionally with chamber groups and orchestras in the Pikes Peak region, including the Colorado Springs Opera Association, Colorado Springs Chorale, and most notably the Colorado Springs Symphony (now CS Philharmonic), a position she held for 48 years.
Natalie and her loving partner Marcia Davis were deeply involved in animal rescue efforts, and themselves had a number of special feline and canine friends.
Natalie was a life member of the Pikes Peak Musicians Association, Local 154, American Federation of Musicians, from February 1957 until December 2005. She served on numerous orchestra committees and with her dry humor and wit she advocated tirelessly for the safety, rights, and respect of musicians.
And as Natalie was fond of saying, “Que sera, sera.”
