Nancy Sharp, 81, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. Nancy was born on March 8, 1938 in Spearman Texas. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Alfred Sharp; her brother Earl Archer and wife Darlene, sister Norma Payne; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nancy was an elementary school teacher for many years after graduating from Abilene Christian College. Her first position was on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, teaching third grade. After a few years of classroom teaching she returned to school at Texas Women’s University to attain a master’s degree in library science. Upon returning to teaching, she taught all elementary grades in library science. She continued teaching library science until retiring. She also served the Lord by teaching Sunday school classes for many years.
After retirement, Nancy began a hobby of stringing beads to make necklaces. Many of these were given to family and friends. Others were designed for sale as a business called BEADBIZ. She even had a license plate made for her Volkswagen Beetle with BEADBIZ on it. After some limited success, she considered the business more trouble than it was worth and returned to hobby mode.
Nancy was known for her interest in playing Bridge. She played in established teams for many years. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan, and rarely missed a scheduled game. If the Cowboys were playing particularly bad, she would turn them off, saying that they played better when she didn’t watch. Nancy was also an avid reader, sometimes reading as many as six books per week.
