Nancy Lewis Poorman, 87, passed away August 26, 2016 peacefully in her home in Mesa, Arizona. Born Nancy Colleen Orr in Elkhart, Indiana to Russell and Myrtle (Stamp) Orr. She had two older sisters, Rosemary Smith Peters and Jeanne Willemin. She grew up on a farm in Vandalia, Michigan.

After graduating from Vandalia High School she went on to business college in South Bend, Indiana. All three of the sisters graduated from college which was quite an accomplishment for a small town during this time period.In April of 1948 she married Ladd James Lewis. Ladd was a well driller for a family owned business in Cassopolis, Michigan. They had two daughters, Gaye Iseminger and Joye Daron.

They lived on Donnell Lake. In January of 1975 Ladd passed away from open heart surgery at Cleveland Clinic. Nancy then worked for a while at Cass Clinic as a receptionist. Later she took residence in Mesa, Arizona. She worked at Central Christian Church. There she met Bud Poorman and they married in January 1982. In September of 1992 Bud passed away from cancer.

Nancy stayed in Arizona visiting her daughters in Michigan during the hot summers.Nancy loved to sing and she had a beautiful soprano voice performing in choirs, singing and playing piano at nursing homes. In fact she and some friends, Joyce Settle and Donna Olson, made a record in the 60’s called “Meeting in the Air”. They were known as the Jubilee Trio. Nancy has been singing in choirs for over sixty years. She also loved to bake and read. She was a wonderful example of a Christian wife and mother.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, one son-in-law and husbands. She leaves behind her two daughters, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
