Gas City-Nancy L. Dawson, 78, passed away early Monday morning, January 21, 2013, at the Twin City Health Care Center following an extended illness. She was born on September 25, 1934 in Albany, the daughter of Charles F. and Elizabeth Ann (Langdon) Underhill.
Nancy married the love of her life, Merville E. Dawson and he preceded her in death in 1997. Mrs. Dawson had been a home maker. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 651,the Eagles Lodge # 231 where she held several offices including Trustee, and had been a member of the PAL Club where she had been on the Board of Directors for many years. Nancy had been a Democrat prescient Committee person in the past and President of the South Central Neighborhood Association. She enjoyed gardening and rummage sales.
Survivor’s include, one daughter, Toni Tate, Muncie; one step daughter, Anita Routh, (husband-Danny), Muncie; one step son, Mark Dawson (wife-Chris),Ogden, Utah; three granddaughters, Sabrina Sheron (husband-Andy), Marion, Nancy Lafferty (husband-Leonard), Springfield, Ohio and Belinda Joreski, Medina, Ohio; nine great grandchildren who include, Allison, Rachel and Richard Routh all of Muncie, Steven and Nicole Dawson both of Utah, Christopher Gonzales, Chelsea, Caitlen and Levi McMullin of Daleville and Alayna Sheron of Marion; two brothers, Moral Underhill (wife-Peggy), Muncie and David Underhill (wife-Tonia), Leesburg; three foster sisters, Joyce Oren (husband-Tom), Chesterfield, Mary Goodpaster (husband-Vern),Yorktown and Sylvia Taflinger, Muncie; one sister-in-law, Doris Blevins (husband-Kenny), Mechanicsburg; one brother-in-law, Lowell Dawson (wife-Linda), Bedford.
Besides her husband Merville, she is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Doris Beckham, one step daughter, Mitzi McMullin.
