Nancy Jane Gilliland, 77, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Barton W. Stone Home. She was born Apr. 15, 1933, in Greasy, the daughter of Byron and Merle McAnn Dugger. She married Junior Dale Gilliland in Rockwall, TX, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2007.

She is survived by five sisters and two brothers, Betty Jean Banks of Pigeon Forge, TN, Mary Beddingfield of Jacksonville, Richard Dugger of Scottville, Ruth Reynolds of Olive Hill, KY, Ida Kay (Chuck) Gause of Canton, MO, Shirley Allen of Mechanicsburg, and Byron (Tandra) Dugger of Smithfield; many nieces and nephews; and special friends June Trone and Carol “C.J.” Flynn, both of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lindy, William (surviving wife Genea of Strafford, MO), and Robert Dugger.

Mrs. Gilliland was a graduate of Northwestern Community High School in Palmyra. She had worked 28 years for C.J. Flynn Enterprises. She was known as the “Chicken Woman” and for being a very hard worker. Nancy was a member of the Baptist faith. She was very active with the Democratic Party and was a member of the Jacksonville Area Pigeon Club, Morgan County Audubon Society, Ebenezer Group, and was involved with the Jacksonville Senior Center.
