Obituary of Nancy J. Larsen
LARSEN, Nancy J. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at her home with loving family at her side. Nancy was born on September 2, 1939 to Edmund and Ruth (Greenwood) Markey. She was 73 years old. She married Douglas D. Larsen on April 23, 1960 in Covington, KY. Nancy graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1957 and from the University of Michigan’s Dental Hygiene program in 1959. Nancy practiced dental hygiene for fifty years, a milestone that she was extremely proud of. During her life she was a member of Chi Omega sorority, the American Dental Hygienists Association, the Saginaw Valley Kennel Club, and the Bouvier des Flanders Club of Southeastern, MI. Special times in Nancy’s young life included summer vacations on Lake Avalon spent swimming and water skiing. As a loving mother she enjoyed watching her boys play sports and spend time at the family cottage on Lake Leelanau. Later in life Nancy’s true passion became her animals, which included numerous dogs and two African Grey parrots. She most truly enjoyed showing her Bouvier des Flanders and training them for confirmation with many awards, “Best in Breed” championships, which demonstrate her success. Right up until her death Nancy avidly attended both local and regional dog shows.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Doug; her three sons and five grandchildren: Douglas Jr, his wife Laurie, and their daughter Anna; Steven and his sons, Kyle and Mitchell, and daughter, Lily; Matthew, his wife Laurie, and his daughter, Arielle. She is also survived by her brother, Edmund (Larry) Markey M.D., sisters: Chris Wood, Judge Jane Markey, Martha Markey and Amy Markey and of course many wonderful sisters and brothers in-law, nieces and nephews, and a few very, very dear friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and a very special brother-in-law, William (Bill) Conwill. Nancy’s sons would like to thank everyone that helped make her life special.
