Nancy Irene (Nicholas) Escue, 71, died on December 23, 2016, having lost her life to cancer. She was a loving and beloved Christian, daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, R. C. “Hap” Escue. Her children are Charles (Corey) Escue and Peter (Jacque) Escue.

Charles and his wife Corey live in Chicago with their children, Devin and Juniper. Peter and his wife Jacque live in Roanoke, TX with their daughter, Alana, and have three by grown children, Nicole (Carpenter) Griffin, Sasha, and Daniel Escue. Nancy has two sisters, Nicki (Gary) Mezger and Mary (Mike) Barrick. Nancy’s parents, Max N. and Eleanor W. Nicholas preceded her in death.

Nancy was born on August 18, 1945 in Olympia, WA, where her dad was stationed prior to deployment to the Pacific theater during WW II. She moved to Oklahoma at six weeks of age and lived primarily in Calvin and Nowata, OK. She and Hap were married on September 11, 1965, in Stillwater, OK and together enjoyed a career with the United States Air Force, living together in Oklahoma, California, Washington, DC, Florida, Nebraska, Alabama, Saudi Arabia, New Mexico, and England, and, after retirement, in Albuquerque, NM and Boulder CO. Nancy was active in the United Methodist Church, and participated in various choral groups and hand bell choirs. She was an active volunteer with the United Methodist Women, the Albuquerque Guild of the Santa Fe Opera, and various officers’ wives clubs. She worked at Riyadh International Community School, and Eldorado High School. She enjoyed reading, singing, sewing, needlework, gardening, camping, travel, and loved to cook for family, friends and the Asbury Pie Café. Her pecan pies and pie crust were legendary.
