FLANAGAN, Nancy Faith, Kalamazoo, passed away Friday morning, April 25, 2014 at age 86. Faith, as her friends called her, was born January 9, 1928 in Portland, Maine to the late Alfred H. and Ethel Piper Avery. She was united in marriage to Thomas E. Flanagan on November 12, 1949.

He preceded her in death in 1999. Faith’s life experience took her across North America, from a childhood in New England to exciting opportunities with her family in Ontario, Canada, Michigan, Arkansas and Alaska. She was President of the Borgess Service League and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, United Way, Girls Scouts of America and many other causes. She was also an avid golfer and a member of Gull Lake and Kalamazoo Country Clubs.

Her hobbies included cooking, reading, knitting and gardening. She truly had a green thumb. Faith is survived by her children, Barbara Maurice Miller of Austin, TX, Mark Flanagan of Kalamazoo, Andrew Paula Flanagan of Chicago, IL and Marjorie Dennis Mikel of Goshen, IN; 2 grandchildren, Anastasia Chris Chamberlin and Frances Flanagan; and 1 great grandchild, Avery Elizabeth Chamberlin.
