Nancy C. (Tarquinio) Viccaro, 88, of Newington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late James T. Viccaro, Sr. for 66 years. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Dominic and Frances (DiNino) Tarquinio, Nancy grew up in Hartford and graduated from Buckley High School before moving to Newington where she raised her family. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and worked as a bookkeeper for NECCI, Newington’s elementary children’s center. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Nancy’s family was the most important part of her life. She gave tirelessly of herself as her children grew up as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout den mother as well as a consummate spectator of her children’s sporting events. This love of sports stayed with her through the years, and she enjoyed watching any and every team sport that she could, especially her beloved Boston Red Sox. She was a tag sale enthusiast and loved to bowl, participating in several organized leagues over the years. Nancy loved trips to the casino, fishing and vacationing with her family at their cottage in Lebanon and enjoyed spending her winters in Florida where she has made many dear friends over her last 25 years there. Nancy volunteered for many charitable organizations over the years, but especially loved children and was very excited to meet her first great-grandchild, Sophia, just two weeks ago. Nancy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Richard and Ruth from Right at Home healthcare in Wethersfield for the exemplary care and compassion given to Nancy and her husband James as well. Nancy will be dearly missed by her three children; James Viccaro, Jr. and his significant other Darlene Bousquet, of Colchester, Michael Viccaro and his wife Susan of Middlefield and Patricia McComb and her husband Stephen of Bloomfield; her grandchildren, Brian, Marc, Keith, Matthew, Kevin and Rachel Viccaro, Timothy McComb and his wife Lindsey, Patrick McComb and his wife Kate and Justine Johnson and her husband Kevin; her first great-granddaughter Sophia; her dearly beloved sister-in-law, Jennie Forbes and her daughter Linda Turkington; her cherished canine companion “Sawdust”; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
