Nancy C. “Cathy” Slaughter Sharpe, 79, of Burlington passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022 after two years of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the loving wife of Jimmy R. Sharpe, who survives and the daughter of William Glenn Slaughter and Catherine Holt Slaughter, both deceased.
Cathy retired as a teacher’s aide from the Alamance-Burlington School System. After her retirement she worked part-time at Wal-Mart on Garden Rd. for 10+ years. She was a member of Low’s Lutheran Church where she enjoyed being a church greeter. Cathy was a sports lover, avid Cummings high school sports fan and Carolina Tar Heel fan.
In addition to her husband of their home, survivors include two daughters, Tracy Sharpe Agnew of Graham and Kelly Sharpe Bowman(Clint) of Burlington; and three grandchildren, Nathan Tyler Yarbrough(Tara), Blake Agnew(Meredith) and Dalton Yarbrough; one great-granddaughter, baby girl Agnew to be born in August; two sisters, Laura S. Phillips(Ritchie) and Pamela S. Faucette; sister in law, Ann Slaughter and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William A. Slaughter and Robert H. Slaughter and one sister, Polly S. Brown.
